Animal Hybrid

The assignment was to create an animal by using parts of three different animals. To complete this, first I had to pick three different animals to put together to make one animal. In order to get credit, we had to have certain things in our project. We had to include highlights, shadows and a background to match the scenery of where the animals habitat. This whole project was done using Adobe Illustrator.

The three animals that I chose where giraffe, turtle and a duck. I used the giraffe’s neck and head, the turtle’s body and the ducks feet. In my background I included grass, flowers, the sky and the sun. I chose this background because it’s pretty and I’d like to live in a place with a yard like that.

The three animals represent me all in my child hood. When I was younger my sisters used to say that I had a giraffe’s long neck and ducks feet. I had a pet turtle that died so I decided to use it as the body on my animal. The background has to do with my animal because it should be close to grass because of it’s giraffe side. I would have liked to include a pond though.

I feel like I did a really good job on this assignment. I took my time to trace and add the spots onto my animal, which took a lot of work. I like the duck feet most on my piece the most. I like it because it was the easiest part and because they really do look like duck feet. I think that if I could change something about my final piece I would make more highlights so that my image can pop out more. I learned how to make the highlights with the pen tool and take my time to do it.
